Jim Studley Scholarship
As part of the Howell Hockey community give-back program,
Howell Hockey has established a scholarship fund awarded each Spring to
a graduating Midget level player who is leaving the program and will be continuing their studies in the following fall. The award is named to honor a coach
who passed away suddenly during the Fall 1997 season. Jim Studley
was a coach who was committed to all of the players of the Club. He
gave an tremendous amount of his time and effort to improve the level
of play within the Club. This scholarship is Howell Hockey's way of
paying tribute to Jim. The Club established the fund with $250 and
internal fundraisers add additional funds to the award. The Club is
always seeking Sponsors for the Scholarship to increase the amount
available. The Club guarantees a minimum of $500 per award.
Criteria
The criteria for the Jim Studley Scholarship award is based on academic accomplishment, community involvement, and support of the Club. Emphasis is placed on academic achievement followed by involvement in community activities. Most of the older players in Howell Hockey are active in helping the Club with rink maintenance and improvement. Many help out in a coaching capacity and as
clinic instructors. The Jim Studley Scholarship award is the Club's way of
rewarding our player members.
